AVG INTERNET SECURITY 2010 WITH KEY VALID TILL 2018

Homepage:

Description:AVG's most popular product is its free antivirus, but the company also makes two enhanced security suites that are
geared for users who don't mind paying for additional protection--as long as it's worthwhile. AVG Anti-Virus 9 introduces
a few new features, claiming faster scan times, faster boot times, and other under-the-hood improvements.

Users who've used AVG 8 will find the interface nearly identical, and generally it's easy to use. From the main window,
though, you must double-click to get further information on any feature, whether virus scanning, firewall protection, or
updating. We'd like to see this streamlined, since there's no reason to click on any of them without wanting more details;
it is a spare interface, otherwise. You'll find a full-blown scheduling utility for automating tasks and checking for new
definitions as often as you'd like. Other perks include technical support and the ability to run on multiple operating
systems. Should a virus create serious system problems, AVG creates a rescue disk to scan your computer in MS-DOS mode.
The program doesn't obviously tax your system when scanning or when running in the background. There's also a new
identity-theft assistance service, available for free and provided by a third party.

In empirical testing, scan times were slower than expected, and the new firewall database proved to have autoapproval
problems with some well-known programs. It also detected some image files as threats, when two other scans decided they
weren't--we decided these were false positives. AVG might not be the fastest or the most effective available security
option, but it still gets the job done and you're better off with it.

AVG Internet Security 9.0 is faster, safer and easier to use. This is a complete solution for all the things you do online.
Multiple layers of protection mean you don't have to worry about identity theft, spam or viruses. AVG Internet Security
9.0 gives you two vital extra layers of protection:
With AVG LinkScanner whenever you're on the web, the moment you go to click on a link, LinkScanner analyzes the page behind
that link to tell you whether there's something nasty hiding there. For added peace of mind, you also get safety ratings
for your Google, Yahoo! and Bing/MSN search results.
Identity Protection makes sure your passwords, credit card information, bank account details, and other valuable data are
safe from even the newest and most sophisticated threats. It's constantly on guard, watching to make sure no program on
your PC is doing something it shouldn't.

Antispyware:
The antispyware scanner included with AVG Internet Security is one of the most effective in any internet security suite.
There are some that are on the same level, but none that are better.

Grisoft included an ADS scanner within the main scanning features included with AVG Internet Security. ADS means Alternate
Data Stream and is a way for files to be hidden in a place on your computer where most security scanners do not see.
Having the ability to look in these places and find spyware and viruses is extremely important in keeping your computer
clean and safe.

Antivirus:
AVG AntiVirus has been a force in the antivirus market for years. Their reputation among computer users is nearly flawless.
The virus scanner they have developed is certified by ICSA, W.C.L and VB100%. These certifications are a measure of how
well an antivirus utility does its job. Having all three of the certifications listed above is uncommon and shows a
commitment to creating an excellent product.

Firewall:
AVG's firewall is good, but still needs some work. It doesn't have much of a default configuration to speak of. It does
have a couple settings for a standalone computer or a computer on a domain, but they mostly change what programs are
blocked by default. This is a good start but requires that you approve or deny every program that you connect to the
internet with. Beyond the little issue of default configuration, AVG's firewall is very strong.

Other Security/Features:
Grisoft didn't include much in the way of extras with AVG Internet Security.

Ease of Use:
AVG Internet Security is very easy to use. Most of the configuration is already done for you with the exception of the
firewall configuration. The other stuff pretty much stays out of the way and doesn't let you know it even exists.

Ease of Installation/Setup:
The installation of AVG Internet Security is mostly easy and to the point. The install is pretty smooth until you get to
some of their configuration questions. Some of the questions can be confusing if you are not an advanced user or
experienced with AVG.

Help/Support:
AVG Internet Security has several help and support options available. The application help is helpful, but can be a bit
weak when it comes to more advanced features. AVG also has an online FAQ and email support. Enterprise customers have
some other support options as well.

Summary:
AVG Internet Security performed well in all of our testing. It caught all of our viruses we tested it with and stopped
all spyware we attacked it with.

The major downfall to this security suite is the significant slowdown of our test system while it was installing. Boot
times were about 20 seconds slower and opening just about any program took at least a few seconds longer than normal.
The lack of extras was also a drawback. Keep all this is mind when searching for an internet security suite for your
computer.

What's new in this version:

In this new edition, the combined anti-virus/anti-spyware scanner in AVG Internet Security 9.0 runs up to 50% faster
than earlier versions.
New in AVG Internet Security 9.0 is the integration between the Resident Shield, firewall, and identity protection
modules. This enables the modules to share malware information with each other providing better real time protection.
AVG Internet Security 9.0 also delivers new anti-phishing detection techniques, which can quickly an... see all new
features.

AVG Internet Security is an above average security suite; however, if offers few of the extras that some of our higher
ranked products include, such as parental controls. But all in all AVG is a great security suite and they offer one of
the most powerful and popular free versions of antivirus software available online.

Standout Features:

Provides identity theft protection
Includes LinkScanner which can scan web pages before they are clicked on
Provides a safe gaming mode.
